WAR ON DRUGS: Legalizing a better answer

On July 15, our new Common Sense editor Brent Regan wrote about unintended consequences of prohibition and the war on drugs. Mr. Regan seemed to imply that we could have won the war on drugs if we spent some of the trillion dollars on education and treating drug addiction. I think that is just another example of putting buckets in the living room to stop leaks.

My last LTE recommended that we legalize all drugs like we did for alcohol and tobacco. Let people make their decision about what they put in their body and let them live or die based on their decision. The drug lords will no longer get their trillions of dollars, police would not have to spend time with hunting the drug addicted, we could get rid of the DEA and by the way it’s just common sense.
