GUN LAW CHANGE: Right thing to do

How is it a Takata airbag inflator recall can be greeted with little to no opposition after less than 20 related deaths in the U.S. to date, but we struggle to find common ground with gun laws, especially related to assault weapons, high-capacity magazines and background checks, when there has been 27 school related deaths, the most deadly involving an assault weapon, this year alone in the United States? The fact it took more than an hour for law enforcement to summon the courage, formulate a strategy, and take the offensive against an 18-year-old mass-shooter with an assault weapon, while terror-stricken children were left hostage to their unimaginable thoughts, from bearing witness to the carnage of their friends and teachers, while waiting for the policemen to rescue them at Robb Elementary, should be enough of an impetus for meaningful gun law change related to assault weapons. At minimum, do we not owe the families of these horrific atrocities the highest level of compassion through our solidarity on this matter, not to mention the concern and safety for our law-enforcement officers?

Nobody is taking the airbags out of our vehicles because of a bad inflator, and nobody is taking away our right to own guns because of a few that should be excluded, or restricted, due to their capacity to kill.

It’s the right thing to do.
