Kathryn Ann (Park) Holt, 81

| July 20, 2022 1:00 AM

Kathryn Ann (Park) Holt, 81 of Twin Lakes, Idaho, died peacefully at home on June 25, 2022, surrounded by family. Kathryn “Kathy” was born in Nampa, Idaho, on Oct. 29, 1940, to Chester Roy Park and Naomi Julia (Neely) Park. Her family moved to the farm in Rathdrum, Idaho, in 1949, where she completed high school and pursued post graduate studies. She married Larry Whitesitt in 1959 and, in the summers, they worked together in the forests of Idaho and Montana, planting trees and fire spotting on lookouts, logging, and whatever employment the backcountry could provide. Their first son, Scott, was born in 1960 and in 1964 the family immigrated to Canada. They built a small cabin in British Columbia along the Kispiox River and split time between hunting, fishing, gardening and working. In 1966, they moved near Smithers, British Columbia, and built a beautiful log home. Kathy worked for attorney Lawrence Perry as a legal secretary and Larry began a new career as a bush pilot.

Kathy and Scott moved to Prince George in 1971, where she worked for attorney Dave Hutton. Kathy was remarried in 1975 to Bill Jewsbury and moved to Bellevue, Wash. Her second son, Michael Jewsbury, was born in 1977. In May of 1982, Kathy returned to work, this time for a Seattle law firm, Foster Pepper, where she worked for 30 years until her retirement in 2011 at age 71. She was an accomplished paralegal and enjoyed life-long friendships with many of her coworkers.

Kathy loved her family and friends deeply. She was a beautiful soul, fun-loving, generous to a fault and had multiple talents. 1992 began a new chapter in her life when she became ‘Nana’ after the birth of her first grandson. One of her greatest joys was doting on each of her six grandchildren. She also had a special love of animals, from her childhood prize sheep and family horse to her many dogs and grand dogs. She was a gifted artist and vocalist. Kathy continued her love for painting and music during her retirement years, learning the violin in her seventies at her son Michael’s beloved cabin on Twin Lakes.

Kathy is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Scott (Stacy) Whitesitt of Rathdrum, Idaho, Michael (Shana) Jewsbury of Bellevue, Wash.; sister, Elizabeth Stevens, Westport, Wash.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug (Linda Jo) Park, Dan (Sue) Park, and sister-in-law, Diane Park, all of Rathdrum, Idaho; grandchildren: Daniel (Jordan), Kaitlyn and Gavin Whitesitt, Hannah, Scotland and Kathryn Jewsbury; great-grandchildren, Everett and Piper Whitesitt; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and Scott’s father, Larry Whitesitt of Fairfield, Wash.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Naomi Park, sister, Helen Willard, and brother, Chester Park, all of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Michael’s father, Bill Jewsbury of Bellevue, Wash.

We extend a special thank you to all who loved and helped our mother through her retirement years.

A graveside memorial service for Kathy will be held on July 30, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. at Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum, Idaho, followed by a reception. Please visit Kathy’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
