CIVILITY: Need to get back to it

Lynn Fleming, I don’t disagree with you about the language used on some bumper stickers being offensive to some people. They’re right up there with the encouragement by people in authority and high places for mobs to harass and hound, go to their homes in the middle of the night and spotlight and bullhorn them, and even publish names, addresses and phone numbers of our Supreme Court justices (against the law, if I’m not mistaken). This was encouraged by no less than Chuck Schumer.

When did we go so far off the tracks of civility? I remember, through the years having differences of opinion with family members and friends at times. We could part, go home and get a good night’s rest and the next day go back to our comfortable relationships. I actually do have friends and family now who don’t share our points of view and there’s no animosity. All I can do is hope and pray that someday, somehow, we can get back to that.

Oh, and BRAVO to Scott Grunsted for his clear, informed and concise evaluation of the SCOTUS decision and duties! It’s the best I’ve ever seen!! I’m going to copy it and stick it on my corkboard for reference whenever I need to prove a point about how they reach their rulings.
