SCOTUS: Shallow analysis

Sholeh Patrick's article in the July 7 Coeur d'Alene Press focused on recent SCOTUS decisions that, as she sees it, rescinded certain rights, at least one of which (abortion) was “granted by the court."

Rights don't come from any branch of government. Rather, rights are natural, given to all, from the moment of conception, and come from the Creator of the universe, and which are memorialized in the Bill of Rights.

SCOTUS recognized this when it RESTORED a right that was taken away in 1974 in the Roe v Wade case, that being the right of a human child to not have its life snuffed out in the womb before it had a chance to voice its own opinion (like, “do I want to exist?”).

Next, in the matter of school choice, Sholeh brought up the “separation of church and state” matter that has been wrongly characterized for many years. Our Constitution says nothing about this separation. It simply prohibits the government from establishing a state religion, and demanding public adherence to it.

Again, the court RESTORED a right that was taken away, that being the right of parents to select the manner of education for their children. Since truancy laws require participation in some form of documented education, why should parents be restricted to the government indoctrination centers, which “teach” things abhorrent to many of them, and force them to pay for it with their tax dollars, then pay again for private or home schools?

In the matter of gun rights, the Second Amendment to the Constitution reminds us that we have a right to defend ourselves, and that no law can usurp that. The high court RESTORED a right that was taken away by New York lawmakers.

Natural (human) rights are superior to states rights. Sholeh closes with a reference to the wild, wild West. What has been more wild recently than ANTIFA and BLM burning our cities down? They tucked and ran from Cd'A when 1,000 or so gun-wielding citizens showed up to prevent them from wrecking our little haven. Not a shot was fired. Not so “wild,” huh?
