Kroc Masters plan open water swim

The CDA Kroc Masters will host an open water race at Sanders Beach on July 16.

Participants can swim a 1K-loop course parallel to the beach once or twice. The event is sanctioned by United States Masters Swimming.

"This is a great opportunity to try out an open water event or to prepare for future races such as the Long Bridge (1.76 miles) or the CDA Crossing (2.4 miles)," according to a press release.

Awards will be given for each age group and first overall for men and women.

Wetsuits and neoprene caps allowed but not required.

Lifeguards and safety kayakers will be on the course.

The entry fee is $35 for USMS members or $45 for nonmembers.
