Anna Marie Curtis, 87

| July 2, 2022 1:00 AM

Anna Marie Curtis passed away peacefully in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on June 20, 2022, as she joined her Lord in Heaven. Anna was born on Oct. 17, 1934, to Peter and Mary Klem. She was born in Jasper, Ind., where she was the youngest of nine and the only girl of the bunch.

Anna graduated from Jasper High School and moved to Indianapolis, where she worked as a buyer of infant and children's clothing for a major department store.

Then, as luck would have it, she met her husband, John Curtis, of 56 years, on a blind date on a trip to California to visit one of her brothers. Two active sons named Kevin and Travis, and ten years later, the four planted their roots in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Her entire life, she worked hard and, together with John owned and operated several businesses. For nearly a decade, she operated Jordan's, a local convenient mart and became an active member of her community.

On top of engaging in local business, she was an integral member of St. Pius X Catholic Church as she held strong beliefs in the Lord. Often multiple times a week, she dedicated her time to religious activities such as adoration, where she joined others in praying before the Lord. She also hand-delivered the Eucharist to individuals in local nursing homes who could not attend Mass themselves.

Anyone who met Anna knew how much she loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Starting with her children and onward, she enjoyed attending little league games, coaching swim teams, and watching her grandchildren's soccer and volleyball tournaments.

Of the many joys of Anna's life, she loved to garden, socialize with her friends, travel, and watch the sunset at the end of the day. It was of great pride that no matter what, she was there for the people in her life that needed it the most. She will always be remembered for her infectious personality and gentle touch. All her friends and family will profoundly miss her love.

Memorial services will be held at St. Pius X on July 8, at noon, where Father Len MacMillan will lead an in memoriam Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
