PASTOR: Fulfilling his duty

| January 30, 2022 1:00 AM

In response to Jessica Mahuron’s My Turn opinion of Pastor Hemmings actions toward the Coeur d’Alene library’s support of the LGBTQ+ safe space. I must respectfully submit my response to her.

She is obviously aware of scriptures which give the boundaries of sex and the term of “abomination,” as a reference to sex outside the confines of marriage between a man and a woman and the dressing as and assuming the roles of the opposite sex. The Bible is clear on these.

God gives his creatures the choice of life or death. If one does not care to live for God, he has no obligation to concern himself with the laws of God. If one does live for God and His kingdom to come, abiding in the scriptural truths are necessary, and with that comes the obligation to “Rescue those being carried off to death and save those stumbling toward slaughter.” Proverbs 24:11. And again, “Save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy mixed with fear, but with great caution-hating even the garment defiled by the flesh. Jude 1:23.

In today’s social climate the Word of God has been silenced by those who choose to deceive by arguing situation ethics or the “new morality,” neither of which holds up to authority of God’s Word. The idea that loving God won’t hold us responsible our choices denies his mercy, grace and ability to save us from our sins, not in them.

Pastor Hemmings is performing his moral obligation.
