NIC ROUNDUP: Cardinal men fall short at Wenatchee Valley

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Sophomore Julius Mims had 22 points and 13 rebounds for North Idaho College, which shot 31 of 71 in a 87-82 loss to the Wenatchee Valley Knights in a Northwest Athletic Conference game on Wednesday.

Freshman Taden King had 23 points and seven rebounds off the bench for NIC (9-6, 3-1 NWAC). Daniel Santana had 13 points.

Isaac Jones had 18 points and 22 rebounds, Anthony Roy 26 points for Wenatchee Valley (7-10, 4-0). The Knights shot 11 of 37 from the 3-point line, compared to NIC, which finished 2 for 14.

North Idaho returns home to face Yakima Valley on Saturday.

WENATCHEE, Wash. — The Cardinals received a forfeit from the Knights due to the home team being unable to play in Wednesday’s game due to a COVID outbreak within the program.

NIC (7-5, 2-2 NWAC) is scheduled to host Yakima Valley on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Apodaca Duals

The North Idaho College wrestling team will not compete at the Apodaca Duals this weekend as previously scheduled out of an abundance of caution due to the pandemic.

A Feb. 5 home match against Grays Harbor has also been canceled.

NIC will compete next in the West District Championships, formerly the Region 18 Championships on Saturday, Feb. 12 on the campus of Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore.
