NAMPA — Coeur d’Alene, with four wrestlers advancing into the quarterfinals, is tied for fifth after Friday’s first day of the Rollie Lane Invitational at the Ford Idaho Center.

Christian Kelly (98 pounds), Porter Craig (138) Gunner Giulio (170) and Beau Speelman (220) advanced to the quarters for Coeur d’Alene, which is tied for fifth with 89.5 points with Wasatch.

“Those guys, they’re wrestling really well right now,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We wrestled well in the first couple of rounds and still have a few in the backdoor (consolation rounds) that can do something tomorrow.”

It was the first matches of the season for Giulio, who had been out with an ankle injury suffered during football season.

“For his first matches of the year, he looked really good,” Moffat said. “He’s got a couple of really tough guys in his weight class, so we’ll see what happens.”

In the girls tournament, Alyssa Randles (126) and Cara Brown (145) also went unbeaten to advance for Coeur d'Alene.

Rider Seguine (98), Tyson Barnhart (120), Seth Martin (145), Jose Laguna (170) and Trevor Miller (195) advanced to the quarters for Post Falls, which is 10th with 76 points. Abigale Piper (138) and Megan Webster (285) also went unbeaten for the Trojans in the girls tournament to advance..

Devon Suko (170) went 3-0 to advance for Lakeland, which is 18th with 62 points.

Meridian leads the tournament with 111 points.
