WRITERS: First, a deep breath

| February 25, 2022 1:00 AM

As a regular reader of the letters to the editor, I have become accustomed to seeing quite a number of letters from people who seem to approach their task from a negative platform. In short, they have “a bone to pick” with some element of our society.

What makes discussion of this particularly important at this time is the profound division people in our country are experiencing. Having some sensitivity to the folks who write these letters, I ask simply that before you begin writing, please, ask yourself, “Is this a letter that will bring people together, or is it a divisive letter? Am I really making my community a better place with my thoughts, or am I just complaining? Where is the kindness in this letter?”

Then, try taking a deep breath, smiling peacefully, and then, if you choose, begin writing.
