Joyce Marie Geboe, 86

Joyce Marie Geboe, 86, passed away peacefully on Feb. 16, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Coeur d'Alene Idaho. She was born Oct. 20, 1935, to the late Melvin Thomas Archer and Nona Irene (Shatzer) Archer.

Joyce graduated from Kellogg High School in Kellogg, Idaho, class of 1953. Following her graduation, she met and married Leonard Frank Guthrie. The couple first settled in Anaconda, Mont., where they welcomed their firstborn child, Cheryl Lynn Guthrie. They later moved to Boise, Idaho, where two more sons joined the family, Donald Wayne Guthrie and Robert Allen Guthrie. Joyce later moved to Kellogg, Idaho, where she welcomed her youngest daughter, Lori Jeanne Guthrie.

Joyce moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 1968 where she began a 33-year career with Kootenai Memorial Hospital and where her gift to communicate and her never ending smile fostered many friendships.

Joyce met and married Alfred Wayne Geboe in 1977 where the new couple began a life of traveling and enjoying their two dogs, Skyler and Sophie. After the passing of Wayne in 2001, Joyce became involved with the Rambling Rovers where she met new friends and traveled. Joyce also loved to work in her flower beds and take daily walks. Her most prized possession was her family and she loved family gatherings.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Wayne Geboe, and her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Guthrie. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Rae Archer and her brothers, Delmar Allen Archer and Russell William Archer as well as a grandson, Ryan Hoppe.

She is survived by her brother, Melvin Dean (Skip) Archer and his wife, Rose of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; a son, Donald Wayne Guthrie and his wife, Rhonda of Conroe, Texas; son, Robert Allen Guthrie and his wife, Karen of Tomball, Texas; daughter, Lori Jeanne (Guthrie) Hoppe and her husband, Pat of Pasco, Wash. Joyce is also survived by her grandchildren: Angie Danna of Post Falls, Idaho; Jennifer Porter of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Her other surviving grandchildren living in the Houston, Texas area include Tara Braddock, Chris Guthrie, Bryan Guthrie, Kelli (Guthrie) Morris, Katie Guthrie, Kristi (Guthrie) Knight, Michele (Guthrie) Nicol, Nathan Guthrie. Also, Brent Hoppe of Chimacum, Wash.; Adam Hoppe of Miles City, Mont.; and Eric Hoppe of Whitefish, Mont. Joyce is also survived by many great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be determined at a later date.
