CDA: 4 hours for nothing

| February 18, 2022 1:00 AM

Comprehensive? Plan. Many of us spent more than four hours at the comprehensive plan meeting on the 15th. Bill Buley did an excellent job writing about the meeting.

A couple of things he did not cover though.

One was the fact that the planners admitted, when pressed, that they did not take into account the effect of the plan on streets and roads. They apparently think you can leave the streets, roads and main arteries the way they are today, even if you double the population. They said planning the roads “was not their job.”

It was also apparent that the city council (with the exception of Dan Gookin) did not read the plan before voting on it. When asked by the mayor if they (the council members) had any questions, they were pretty much silent or only asked superficial questions. Dan Gookin, however, dug into the plan and asked very specific questions. It was obvious that he had read the plan.

Dan was the only one to give a dissenting vote.
