VISION: Important meeting Tuesday

| February 13, 2022 1:00 AM

I want to remind the citizens of Coeur d’Alene that the City Council has a meeting Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. to consider passage of the state-mandated Comprehensive Plan 2030.

We need our actual citizens and their voices in the audience who bring constructive input to this hardworking council of Coeur d’Alene. Free speech should not just be attacks and venom at volunteers and elected officials.

I believe positive solutions deserve a voice and the Envision 2030 is a culmination of hundreds of citizens and thousands of hours of input by citizens, business owners, institutions and working groups.

I know frustration after two years of upheaval is universal. Locals who may have called this home for generations and those who just moved here are seeing Paradise at risk. Much of the broad thinking in the Comp Plan 2030 attempts to identify and assist in recognizing and offering improved outcomes for our favorite tourist destination and healthy lifestyle community.

Just because you finally got here does not mean you get to slam the gate after you! You may run from your past community but if you cannot bring positive outreach to this community, then perhaps it is time to sell your very valuable real estate and move on.

Please join us at the community space at the Coeur d’Alene library on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
