PROSECUTOR: Kudos but no apology
I was delighted seeing the Feb. 8 headline confirming a nefarious political activist has been charged and will be prosecuted for her flagrant violation of election law. It came as no surprise that she just recently moved to Idaho, no doubt with a political agenda on her mind.
I’d like to call her out, along with everyone who has moved here to flex their political angst but I’ll save that for another time. I’m writing to comment on the legal case and the “My Turn” columns by myself and Prosecuting Attorney Barry McHugh.
Mr. McHugh, thank you for your prompt response. I appreciated your message and openness. But you won’t get an apology. I didn’t accuse you of anything; my column was clearly speculative and supposition. And if that’s what it took to put that headline up there, good for our community.
Post publication, I was thanked for my efforts in emails, phone calls and conversations. It’s not just me; other citizens are concerned about the corrupt actions of this Karen and the ramifications this case brings.
I did find a little apples and oranges though. While I agree a criminal investigation takes time, I don’t think the Isenberg case was a good comparison. This open and shut case needed little more than a few interviews, no toxicology reports required.
Mr. McHugh, I was happy to read you have divested yourself from a political council and, rest assured, if you openly rebuke Brent Regan and his bastardization of a once great Republican Party, you can absolutely count on my vote. Thank you for standing tall.
