RINOS: Ed nailed it

I read Ed DePriest’s column about real RINOS in the room. As a lifelong Idaho Democrat, I have to agree with him that the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee and its supporters are the real RINOs (Republicans in name only).

This faction of the Republican Party has become a fascist-leaning party unwilling to accept a free and fair election, and to suspect communism, socialism, critical race theory and unpatriotic and general un-Americanism at virtually all areas of our local government: city, county and school district activities.

North Idaho was at one time the liberal part of the state. Idaho had governors and legislators who were leaders to admire. Gov. Cecil Andrus and Sen. Frank Church come to mind.

I express my support and gratitude to DePriest and Donna Goodwin for standing up to the bullies from that faction of RINOs and asking for stricter rules at public meetings. Our elected officials do not deserve to be harassed and threatened by their constituents. One observation of mine is that true Republicans and true Democrats can agree and work together to save our democracy.
