What best-dressed babies are wearing
Although it’s a bit early to predict whether March will come in like a lion or a lamb, Dave and Marnie Fair of Post Falls are surrounded by over a dozen baby lambs this second week in February. It’s been colder than usual in our neck of the woods so the little lambies in their barn are snuggling under heat lamps. A bit of extra warmth is provided by tiny little sweaters ... fleece sweaters, of course.
I think the world needs more sweet visuals like darling little lambs in fleece sweaters, including one with a U of I theme.
Super Bowl Sunday is a few days away, and for those who no longer have a dog in the fight, the last two teams standing, Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals, are up for game day fan grabs. According to the Chinese New Year, this is the Year of the Tiger so the Bengals have that going for them in their first Super Bowl appearance since 1989. Only two players on their team were even alive 33 years ago and they were pre-schoolers.
On the underdog, long-shot basis alone I’m going to cheer for Cincinnati, but mostly I’m just hoping the Super Bowl game can live up to the post-season playoff games for excitement.
I enjoy the hoopla of the Super Bowl despite knowing very little about football. If the Seahawks played in every Super Bowl it would certainly make life simpler on the first or second Sunday in February. But what’s not to love about a day dedicated to consuming a week’s worth of carbs, calories and cholesterol and some of the most outrageous and creative television commercials. Oh, and football.
My first Valentine was my dad and throughout his life he never failed to give a card or candy to his daughters. It’s fun to receive candy and flowers and enjoy a nice dinner out, but I’ve come to really value being loved 365 days out of the year. On Valentines Day, 1986, Bert arrived in Idaho from North Dakota to take a giant leap of faith to marry me and my three daughters a month later. He left his family and lifelong friends to make a life and a home here where I had family and lifelong friends. That’s love.
For 36 years, Valentine’s Day has held a special meaning for us. Celebrate love however it appears in your life. Celebrate today and every day if you’re blessed to be loved.
