PREP ROUNDUP: Fast start sends Lakeland over Timberlake

RATHDRUM — Seniors Bryce Henry and Alden Waddington scored 12 points each for Lakeland, which jumped out to a 24-6 lead after the first quarter of a 59-37 win over the Timberlake Tigers at Hawk Court on Wednesday.

“Defensively, we came out and put pressure on them right away,” Lakeland coach Tony Hanna said. “When we got stops, we moved the ball and pushed the tempo. It was senior night, so there was a lot of good energy in the gym. The kids played great.”

Senior Grant Roth scored eight points for Lakeland (7-7), which visits Post Falls on Saturday.

Zach Yetter scored 18 points for Timberlake (5-8), which travels to Priest River on Friday.

POST FALLS — The host Trojans won nine matches by pin to beat the Hawks at The Arena.

“The kids went out and wrestled hard tonight,” Post Falls coach Pete Reardon said. “I was really happy to see that they treated it like any other match. The kids just fought and kept it going tonight.”

Post Falls travels to Coeur d’Alene on Feb. 10.

Lakeland competes at the Conrad Garner Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Bonners Ferry.

splits against Moscow, Bonners Ferry

COEUR d'ALENE — The Vikings beat Moscow 54-33, then handled Bonners Ferry 69-16 in duals at Coeur d'Alene High.

“Against Moscow, I don’t think we were that sharp,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “Our regular guys like Porter (Craig), Rylan (Rogers) and (Demarco) Piazza were solid. But some of the younger kids are still making some mistakes, but not for a lack of effort. We woke up a little against Bonners Ferry, but we’d like to see the younger guys take advantage of their opportunity.”

Lake City defeated Bonners Ferry 49-34, then lost to Moscow 47-34.

Coeur d'Alene visits Lewiston on Saturday.

WALLACE — Senior Jaden House scored 17 of her 26 points in the third quarter for the Miners in a Scenic Idaho Conference win over the Jaguars.

Britany Phillips scored 11 points for Wallace (11-3, 3-0 SIC), which visits Clark Fork tonight. The Miners clinched at least a tie for the conference, with a game at Lakeside remaining on Saturday.

Bella DeBoer had 12 points for Genesis Prep (7-7, 0-3), which hosts Lakeside to conclude the regular season on Friday.
