NIC BASKETBALL: Cardinal women, men roll past Big Bend

COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore guard Kolby Pimperton had 20 points, six steals and three assists for North Idaho College in a 74-63 Northwest Athletic Conference win over the Big Bend Vikings at Rolly Williams Court on Wednesday.

“She had a pretty solid game and was phenomenal,” North Idaho coach Korina Baker said. “She did pretty well overall.”

NIC forced 13 turnovers of Big Bend and limited the Vikings top scorer Kaitlyn Callahan to six points.

“Our goal was to pressure them out of the jump,” Baker said. “The second and third quarter have been a struggle for us. We struggled in the fourth, but wanted to focus on rattling them. Main goal was to shoot down their shooters and I was happy with how we played defense.”

NIC (9-5, 4-2 NWAC), winners of three straight games, travels to Treasure Valley on Saturday.

“Think the girls are starting to see it as well,” Baker said. “After the last few games, the girls have seen it and we’re gaining momentum and starting to know our personnel and feel like the girls are starting to see it and feel it themselves. And it’s really rewarding.”

Big Bend is 11-4, 3-3.
