NIC BOARD PERFORMANCE: Community deserves more

The board’s meetings are painful to observe. Commonly accepted and responsible processes are either unknown or not followed. Bad behavior is common. Honest discussion and transparent decision-making is difficult to find. Time and effort spent talking over one another or at the audience is alarming. Too much public money has been unnecessarily spent. Open meeting laws and competitive hiring processes have been ignored. The relationship with college administration, staff and students has been shredded. It’s nothing short of an unfolding tragedy. Effective governance requires more than a campaign. The community deserves far more than has been delivered.
