HOUSING: Little help available

I was up there a couple years ago and had started a couple things to help me. Well, I'm no longer in need, but I know someone who is.

A little background.

Several years ago, there was a woman with her child who moved there from Arizona. At first she was able to stay with another family member and her son. Then they could no longer share a place. This woman and her son had signed up for help through St. Vincent and they were given a list of low income housing. She applied for services through all available resources. At one time she was hospitalized and I came up there to watch over my nephew and during my time there he applied for and was hired to work. She was discharged and went back to the motel she had gotten into. She and her son had been living in their car for a time before the motel. Now she had been trying to get into an apartment or a house and none of the agencies or complexes were helping her. She is employed and she gets Social Security and she is still unable to rent a house or apartment. The costs up there are too much. Low income housing is not really low income oriented. This is so ridiculous. Still these agencies are only interested in lining their pockets with federal monies and there is no actual help for those who actually need it. Marie has been up there now for several years and she has been staying in a motel rather than being assisted in getting a proper home.

My wish for my sister is for her to get into a home she can afford.
