Cd'A Library to host holiday programs

| December 8, 2022 11:28 AM

The Coeur d'Alene public library is getting in the holiday spirit by hosting three separate programs this month.

This Saturday at 11 a.m., children’s author Susan Nipp will host the annual Holiday Sing-Along with Mudgy and Santa. Creator of the “Mudgy & Millie” book and the nationally known “Wee Sing” series of books and music, Nipp will lead the children in singing some holiday favorites.

Mudgy Moose and Millie Mouse will be on hand, along with Santa Claus, and they will be available after the music for informal photos.

The free program will be in the Community Room on the lower level of the library.

On Dec. 12, the library will then host Flutonics, a local flute quartet that will perform a cozy Christmas concert in library. Held at 6 p.m., the quartet will be playing in the middle of the main floor of the library where comfortable seating is all around. The concert will also be streamed on the library’s Facebook page.

Lastly, from Dec. 12-23, the library will be celebrating their third year of Jólabókaflóð- the Icelandic tradition of book giving. It began in WWII, when paper was far cheaper than imported goods and Icelanders began a tradition of giving books as gifts.

Community members of all ages are invited to stop by the library to pick up a free gift-wrapped book, although adult books are the ones in highest supply.

"What book will you receive?" Library Communications Coordinator JD Smithson said. "It’s a surprise! You won’t know until you have unwrapped it. Limit one per person while supplies last."

Patrons who need accommodation to participate in library programs or services are asked to contact the staff prior to the activity by calling 208-769-2315. For more library information visit www.cdalibrary.org.
