KOOTENAI HEALTH: Conversion to nonprofit equals loss of control

Being fairly busy I have not taken the time to read the white paper of the hospital. I would, however, just like to point out that if the hospital converts to a 501 (C) 3 organization, the citizens will no longer vote for a hospital board and will have absolutely no control over what goes on there.

Not that it makes a lot of difference. The hospital charges enough to be able to hire the top flight staff, and to put money away for future development without having to borrow. They have never taxed the good citizens of Kootenai County, simply because they do not have to.

Still, it might be good to keep one foot in the door. Who knows, some day some really conservative Americans may end up on the hospital board.
