JAIL: Heat and hot water were out

Today I was made aware that the jail has two boilers.

One boiler went out over four weeks ago and about one-half the jail has been without heat and hot water for more than four weeks. Today a temperature was measured in an inmates cell at 54 degrees Fahrenheit.

I also just learned today that the jail’s second boiler also broke down and now the whole jail is without heat and hot water.

No hot water for hygiene.

No hot water for laundry.

No hot water for washing dishes.

No hot water for the medical department.

It would seem to me that this a major violation of inmates’ rights and would like to know what the jail administration, staff and the county commissioners are doing to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
