PRINCIPLES: Physics to Providence

As a youngster I discovered a principle of physics — electricity. I foolishly stuck a screwdriver in an electrical socket!

Years later when I did seismic profiling on the seas, it was important to short-to-ground large capacitor systems before maintenance. A missed residual electrical charge meant a possible trip to Heaven (or Hell?).

Physicist Albert Einstein wrote four major manuscripts in 1905. One paper was on the Law of Photoelectric Effect for which Einstein received a Nobel Prize in 1921.

Physicist and chemist Marie Curie, who discovered radium and polonium, won two Nobel Prizes (physics, 1903 and chemistry, 1911).

As an early pioneer in radiation research, Curie’s health may have been damaged by radiation?

Should chemical equations be violated, some university chemistry laboratories have hinged roofs to release pressure from explosions.

Periodically researchers discover equations, laws and principles that form the basis for our world. Remember Einstein’s famous E=mc2?

In the realm of Providence there are likewise principles. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Matthew 5:7). “Give, and it will be given to you…” (Luke 6:38).

Mercy is shown by drivers who slow down to avoid deer, darting squirrels or tentative turkeys.

Individuals who give of their talents, time and resources — and not expecting anything in return — often receive back more than they gave.

Consequences for individuals or nations who repeatedly violate physical or spiritual laws will surely materialize.
