FUNDRAISER: Bras on Dudes raises around $25K

This annual event raises money to help lessen the burden of household bills for someone undergoing cancer treatments. It meets the needs of household expenses such as the electric bill, gas for the car, or food on the family table which often is short due to loss of wages. The event was held Friday, Nov. 4 in the Ballroom of the Eagles on Sherman.

In 2021, the event broke all records and a check for $35,500 was delivered to the Cancer Care Northwest Foundation via the Windermere Foundation.

Holly Hansen, the Chair Committee Lead was hoping to match the record breaking 2021's $35,000. Hansen said the current economy made it difficult as attendance was down and purse strings were tighter. So the numbers, in so far, indicate approximately $25,000 will be turned over to Cancer Care Northwest to be dispersed to local North Idaho.

Bras on Dudes original organizers Holly Hansen and Karen Hansen, have been growing the event for over a decade and it continues to grow due to the support of community volunteers, donors and the awesome Dudes, some who have participated for eight years and more! 2022 DUDES were Nathan Breazille, Bryant Wilson, Philipp Berry, Jason Czapla, Cristopher Lucas, Andreas John, Kyler John, Wes Pulst, Caleb David, Jarod Womack, Tyler Zoesch, Brycen Okon, Josh Green, Josh Miller, James McCurdy and Albert Shaver. Nathan Breazille was awarded the coveted Dude of the Year award!

Silent Auction 2022 donation committee lead, Karen Hansen was happy with the community support of gift certificates, baskets and cash. “I am grateful to these local businesses who support this event with their generous donations,” Karen Hansen said.
