Lauren Stubblefield Burt, 35

| December 1, 2022 1:00 AM

We are devastated and saddened to share the news of the death of our daughter, Lauren Stubblefield Burt, who was a passenger in a fatal car accident in West Richland, Wash., on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022.

Lauren was born March 6, 1987, in Portland, Ore. to Cliff Stubblefield and Tami Martinez. Their family relocated to Post Falls, Idaho, in 1993. Lauren attended school in Post Falls throughout her education career, graduating Senior Class President from Post Falls High School in 2005. She was a gifted singer, participated in Junior Miss, known for her incredible sense of humor and volunteerism. She received the Mayor’s Youth Award for gifting a local family her car when she heard they were in need. She dedicated many hours helping young people through Specialized Needs Recognition. She was known to be a bit precocious and gregarious, and referred to by friends as someone that could light up a room without even trying. Her dimpled smile and snorting laugh were memorable and contagious.

Lauren went on to achieve her cosmetology license where she independently ran her own hair styling business in Coeur d’Alene. In 2009, Lauren relocated to Richland, Wash., where she married and continued in the cosmetology field managing a salon in Kennewick, until starting a landscape curbing business in 2013 with her husband. In 2010 she welcomed her son into the world. Being a mom was her greatest joy. Lauren and her son had an incredible bond that most children crave from their parents. She did something special in what she poured into his life. He knows without a doubt he is loved, worthy of respect, his opinions matter, that education is a priority but more so, people should be. He has inherited her amazing artistry, wonderful wit, and love of Disney. Lauren treasured homesteading and her flourishing plant collection, but most of all, she loved North Idaho, its people and visited often.

Lauren is survived by Bryan Burt, son Gauge Burt, parents Cliff and Tracy Stubblefield of Spokane, Wash.; parents Tami Martinez and Gene Gertson of Post Falls, Idaho; brother Scott Stubblefield of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister Mallary Stubblefield Juarez and beloved nieces Mia and Leila Juarez of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; grandparents LeRoy and Barbara Stubblefield of Ashland, Ore; grandparents Jack and Niti (Nona) Tait of Medford, Ore; step-grandparents Glenn and Jan Gertson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins that greatly miss her.

A celebration ceremony is planned for Saturday, Dec. 17 — 2 p.m. at Post Falls Nazarene located at 308 W. 12th Ave., Post Falls. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lauren and are encouraged to wear something colorful and bright. If you felt led, please write down any stories or bring any photos of Lauren to share for her son, Gauge. There will be a time of fellowship and breaking bread together. (In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been set up in Lauren’s name for her son’s future education. Information on how to give will be available at the service or you can reach out to her mother, Tami Martinez.)
