SCHOOL LEVY: Poor planning all around

The school board has failed to consider many things. First, Aug. 30 falls during the last week of summer break when many concerned voters will not be here. It happened in Georgia when a parks bond was voted down in mid-July. Second, senior citizens are very active voters and many will vote “No” for various reasons.

People don’t like a new tax of any kind, witness the disapproved $50 tax for road improvements two years ago.

Furthermore, a maintenance plan should have been set up years ago when each facility was built and included in the annual budget. The levy could fail unless enough voters are convinced that $80 million will be well spent.
