Gloria B. Klotz, 91

| August 17, 2022 1:00 AM

Gloria Badraun Klotz passed away unto her Lord and Savior, Aug. 5, 2022. She was born on May 22, 1931, to Nick and Katherine Badraun in Newport, Wash.

Gloria was a lifelong resident of North Idaho. After graduating from Priest River High School, she attended the University of Idaho, where she was a proud sorority sister, a Pi Beta Phi, and achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and later in life, a Master’s Degree in Education.

After graduating from college in 1953, she married Donald Klotz at the Congregational Church in Priest River. They soon moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where she taught business classes while Don attended the College of Pharmacy at Idaho State University.

In addition to managing the household, she was a supportive, integral business partner with Don in each of the pharmacy businesses they owned, starting with the White Pine Drug in Potlatch, Idaho. They moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1965 with their three children to open Klotz Drug in the Coeur d’Alene Mall, where she was the bookkeeper.

In 1974, Gloria and the family moved to Lewiston, Idaho, to facilitate Don’s dream of owning and running a cattle ranch. While Gloria did not profess to being a cowgirl, she did embrace the experience and they created many epic family “wild west” memories. After the ranching adventure, Gloria and Don moved back to Coeur d’Alene, where they opened Economart Drug in Post Falls and operated the business together until Don’s retirement.

Gloria was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was an active leader for her children in Campfire Girls and 4-H. Her dedication continued throughout her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, supporting their activities at horse shows, music programs and sporting events including football and basketball, as well as being an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church. Gloria was also active in their Homeowner’s Association, League of Women Voters, Parkinson’s Support Group and the 1st Presbyterian Women’s Bible Study group.

As a child, and throughout her life, Gloria was blessed to spend her summers at the family cabin on Priest Lake. This was her favorite place for rest and rejuvenation, and she was honored to be able to pass on the experiences to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Don worked tirelessly to ensure the legacy of Priest Lake, given by her parents, lived on.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Katherine Badraun; brother Jerry Badraun; husband Don Klotz; and granddaughter Jessica Stovall Kardos-Oberdorfer. Gloria is survived by her children: Mary Kay Angelosante (Jim), Carolyn Stovall (Dan) and Rich Klotz (Kara). She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jennifer, Dawn Marie, Kalynn, Annie, Will and Kayla; and four great grandchildren: Blake, Olivia, Ryker and Kai.

There will be no public service, however the family will be having a private celebration of life and graveside service.

Donations may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815 (www.hospiceofnorthidaho.org) in Gloria’s memory.
