Cd’A LAKE DRIVE: Who is responsible?

I have lived in the Silver Beach Area for many years and have driven this road literally thousands of times. Can anyone explain the utter maze (abomination may be more the word) created by all the paint striping on Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive from Sherman Avenue through to the Silver Beach Marina? Only one traffic lane in each direction.

What was wrong with what we had? Two lanes each direction, a trail lane that accommodated bikes, and walkers or runners. Now we have double white lines on the east to west side; double-double white lines going east, another lane marked “bike,” away from the trail and closer to traffic, which does not appear wide enough for even two riders from different directions to pass one another.

The new centennial trail markings appear as wide or wider than a car lane. Yellow lines in the center of the roadway marked as if for a turning lane. Oh, yeah, the yellow “no man’s” lane dies into the Potlatch Street bridge. The yellow lines from Silver Beach Marina lead you directly into the Potlatch Bridge, where you can turn left. A lane solely for left turns going west from the marina and turning left at Potlatch? I’d like to see the traffic study that justifies that dedication. Whoever is responsible for this has some explaining to do! This is a nightmare!
