PACT ACT: Why they voted no

| August 5, 2022 1:00 AM

The reason our Idaho Republican representatives voted no on the PACT Act to help veterans was because the good old Democrats once again attached a $400 billion slush fund to be used for unrestrained spending not related to helping the veterans. Our Idaho representatives wanted an amendment to remove that attachment.

Removing that $400 billion slush fund wouldn’t have affected any of the original assistance for the veterans. The Democrats refused to remove slush fund. They always take a good bill and add something totally unrelated. In these times of inflation already, Risch, Crapo, Fulcher and Simpson couldn’t go along with giving the Democrats $400 billion to use for anything they wanted. The bill didn’t go through because of the greedy Democrats not the Republicans. A few weeks ago there was an article in The Press. It was written by Jennifer Shutt of the Idaho Capital Sun Newspaper. It was very informative.
