Rotary shines a light on Post Falls
POST FALLS - Inspired by the growth of the city and concerns for the safety of local children, the Post Falls Rotary club installed three solar crosswalks in Post Falls school zones and are currently planning for a fourth.
This past year Rotary has also donated: $1,000 to the Post Falls Food Bank, $1,000 for Safe Start sleep sacks, $3,500 to Post Falls school scholarships, $450 for books for the Post Falls elementary schools, hygiene kits for high school students and St. Vincent de Paul clients, swim grants for Post Falls elementary students, Meals on Wheels weekly deliveries and a monthly pizza party provided for all New Vision High School students that have perfect attendance that month. Rotary also adopts families at Christmas time for the Christmas Flash Give.
Past President Christi Fleischman said in a press release that COVID had impacted their fundraising efforts but “it did not stop us from continuing to do the most good possible in our community.”
Rotary hopes to “continue to work with the city to build more,” Fleischman said.
The annual “Agave event,” is taking place on May 14, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. to support Post Falls Rotary’s philanthropic efforts.
“A night of tequila tasting and a celebrity margarita shaker contest,” will be held at Nashville North in Post Falls. Visit agaveforrotary.com to purchase tickets which are $35.
“This event is a lot of fun and this year we have some great local celebrities from The White House Grill, Crown and Thistle, Terraza, a musician from the band Royale, as well as a fitness guru and influencer who will shake a low-calorie margarita,” said Rotary President Elect Kibbee Walton.
Post Falls Rotary meets every Wednesday at noon at the Filling Station at 306 N. Spokane St. Contact Christi Fleischman at 509-991-4820 or [email protected] for more information.
