POLITICAL MESS: A common denominator

| April 29, 2022 1:00 AM

Last Wednesday’s editorial showed what a mess the state of Idaho is in. Let me take it further.

Our beloved NIC is in a mess for no real reason. It’s not the board’s job to raise children in their image. It’s their parents’ job.

The beautiful city of Hayden that I’ve called home forever is in one hell of a mess. For no real reason. The mayor and council have done the most important work of bringing in living wage jobs. StanCraft is just one of many examples.

The sheriff department throws money at problems, the good California way of fixing things. But somehow, Sheriffs Clegg, Watson and Wolfinger managed to maintain a world class operation.

The county — holy cow. Too many issues to list. Voter fraud isn’t one of them. Jim Brannon has done a terrific job. With Leslie Duncan and potentially Bruce Mattare, building codes will be a thing of the past.

The state puts an unreasonable cap on the homeowner exemption during the largest tax surplus in Idaho history. Janice McGeachin is endorsed by Donald Trump, who must have had a flashback to a girl in the Bronx he gave free rent for playing pattycake with him.

Coeur d’Alene School District is one board member away from having a Hitler youth program. Every one of these messes is a direct result of Brent Regan and his fascist Kootenai County Republican Central Committee.
