VETERANS: A rousing homecoming

| April 17, 2022 1:00 AM

In April ’65 at Ft. Benning, Ga., a group of young men graduated from Officers’ Candidate School (OCS).

More than 200 men started the OCS program with approximately 140 graduating. From Ft. Benning, they branched out to serve their country with the majority going to Vietnam. In the years after the war, these men have spread their OCS spirit across our country — military careers, business, government, medical, education, etc.

Many received honors and medals. Presidential appointees are from this group along with one who received posthumously the Presidential Citizen’s Medal for actions in saving more than 2,600 lives in the Twin Towers on 9-11.

Since their ’65 graduation from OCS 4’65, they started meeting in April 1995 and continued every year after that along with their wives, somewhere in the United States, seeing the sites, sharing memories and ending their annual get-together with a formal banquet and planning their next reunion. It is a special time of sharing experiences, laughter and setting aside a quiet time to “reflect”… The OCS 4’65 group would like to thank Deanna, Laura and Cory at The Coeur d’Alene Resort for their special assistance in accommodations.

We would also like to thank Tom and Mary Robb at the Iron Horse Restaurant for providing banquet facilities for the group. And … a special thank you to Angie for all her organizational help with the banquet.

Thank you Coeur d’Alene for providing the hospitality and beautiful venue for our veterans.
