HOUSING: Laughing to tears
It is important to have a good laugh once a day and the ecstatic person who announced that workforce housing will be built at $400,000 per unit and isn’t that wonderful, provided my day’s laugh.
I checked the internet and the down payment for a dwelling of this price would be between $55,000 and $89,000 and the annual income of a buyer would have to be around $60,000. My question: Exactly what workforce are you speaking about?
A Realtor was being interviewed on TV and he said that a house came up for sale in his town and there were eight bids: one from a local couple and seven from real estate investment firms. Are all of our houses to be owned by out of town investment firms?
I fear this will result in the depopulating of all towns that are labeled “desirable.” Is there anything that can be done about this?
