Here we go again! Environmental crusaders sound the false alarm about the high levels of metal in Lake Coeur d’Alene. Does anyone really believe the article which appeared March 15 in The Press?
The claim that there are more than 83 million tons of minerals in the lake is grossly exaggerated. Mining companies could not afford to flush tens of billions of dollars’ worth of metal into the lake. That would be lead, zinc, silver, copper, gold, etc.
The reason that 33% of people surveyed think that Lake Coeur d’Alene water is unhealthy is because of misleading articles like that one.
