City changing out water meters
The city of Coeur d’Alene Water Department will be installing new water meters through October.
Water meters require service every eight to 10 years and the change out process takes about 30 minutes for each meter, the city wrote in a letter to residents.
It's a bit of a process. City crews will shut off the water for a short time, install a new meter, turn on the water and perform a flush to purge air from the plumbing system.
If city personnel are unable to contact the resident before the change out, a blue door hanger will be left notifying them that the new water meter has been installed, according to the letter.
City crews will be changing meters in the area from Government Way to Canfield Mountain, between Kathleen Avenue to Dalton Avenue, and the area of Huetter Road to Atlas Road, and between Hanley Avenue to Prairie Avenue.
