LETTERS: Poem to The Press
I think that letter writing is A most familiar bore.
I make an e-mail do the biz, And even that’s a chore.
But I have to admit that I tend To epistolic capers
And every once in awhile I send A letter to the papers.
Of cuttings, I have albums full On great and little matters;
And while I keep a temper cool My thinking goes to shatters.
I’m simply nuts on human rights, I think the world’s a mess,
So to let off steam I simply write A letter to the Press.
I cannot tolerate the studs’ ideas on guns,
They think that each should have artillery by the tons
I have my hunter’s pieces that I’ve cherished all the while,
But those of War and Murder with my writing I defile.
And those who think the country needs no government
I must spout off my chafings to editorial firmament.
I know I can’t eliminate the country’s Republican Mess
But by the Gods I can email — a letter to The Press!
