PREP VOLLEYBALL: Bowman, T-Wolves ace nonleague test

COEUR d’ALENE — Early on in the season, Lake City junior Allie Bowman went to coach Michelle Kleinberg and asked just what she could do in order to get on the court.

“We told her we needed her to be more aggressive serving the ball,” Kleinberg said.

Bowman served six straight aces — eight total for the match — for the Timberwolves, who beat the University Titans of Spokane 25-12, 25-19, 25-7 in a nonleague match on Wednesday at Lake City High.

“Allie was special tonight,” Kleinberg said. “She’s been coming in on weekends and staying late after practice to sharpen her serve. She’s really dialed it in and it’s nice to see her practice pay off. It’s really neat.”

Hanah Stoddard had seven kills and six assists, Nellie Reese 10 kills and 17 assists, Ella Hosfeld seven kills, 11 assists and seven digs and Olivia Liermann four kills for Lake City (13-2), which hosts Post Falls in its third match in three days tonight.

“It was nice to see our energy tonight,” Kleinberg said. “They’re great about encouraging each other and getting each other in the right spots.”
