• BOYS SOCCER

SPIRIT LAKE — Treffen McCord and Tytan Reynolds scored second-half goals as the visiting Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy Panthers beat the Intermountain League-leading Timberlake Tigers 2-0 on Tuesday night at Van Tuinstra Memorial Field.

Cd’A Charter improved to 7-1-2, 6-1-1 IML. Timberlake dropped to 8-2-2, 7-1-1. Bonners Ferry was 6-1-2 in league heading into Tuesday night’s IML clash at Priest River.

“We had a game plan going into the match and we stuck to it,” Charter coach Craig Daigle said. “I was very impressed with how we keep grinding away. Treffen McCord played some of his best defense to date and topped it off with an amazing goal.”

Cd’A Charter visits Priest River on Thursday. Timberlake will accept a forfeit win over St. Maries on Thursday, as St. Maries has paused sports for three weeks due to COVID-19, then return to action next Tuesday at Priest River.

First half — none. Second half — 1, Charter, Treffen McCord, 55:00. 2. Charter, Tytan Reynolds (Cooper Hancock), 70:00.

COEUR d’ALENE — Noah Janzen scored two goals in the second half and Kohrt Weber had three assists for the Timberwolves in an Inland Empire League win over the Hawks at Sunrise Rotary Field.

“We started a little flat and made some adjustments at halftime,” Lake City coach Alan Rich said. I was especially happy with the second half performance. We played well as a team, passed well and didn’t rely on any one player to carry the team. We’ve been dealing with several injuries to our regular group of starters and were able to rely on our bench, as well as several JV players that stepped up tonight to give us some substitution options at some key positions. Lakeland has improved since the previous game (a 13-0 Timberwolves win on Sept. 2) and credit to them for never quitting, which resulted in their late goal.”

Lake City (13-0-1, 8-0-0 IEL) hosts Coeur d’Alene on Saturday.

SPIRIT LAKE — Megan Moore, Rebekah Hines and Isabella Lucky had two goals each for the Panthers in an Intermountain League win over the Tigers at Timberlake High.

“We were able to stay focused, even after a lightning delay and very short warmup,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Stacy Smith said. “Getting three goals in the first five minutes allowed us to settle into the game and work on a few things. Timberlake played hard all 80 minutes despite the weather and score. They maintained a strong pressure on our backline, which was good for us to work through in the sloppy weather conditions.”
