NIC GOLF: Swan runner-up, Cardinal men third at season-opening tourney

LEWISTON — James Swan, a sophomore from North Idaho College, finished second in the fall season-opening Warrior Invitational hosted by Lewis-Clark State, which concluded Tuesday at Lewiston Golf and Country Club.

Swan shot a 209, finishing two strokes behind medalist Devon Caruso of Lewis-Clark State, who won with a 207.

NIC's men finished third. British Columbia and Lewis-Clark State tied for the team title with a 858.

In the women's tournament, NIC freshman Bella Gopwani was the top local finisher in eighth with a 152. Kyla Currie, a sophomore from Lake City High, finished 15th with a 162 for Lewis-Clark State, which tied with British Columbia at 858 for the women's team title.

NIC will compete in the Multnomah Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Wash.
