Alex "Sandy" Brand, 79, of Oakhurst, Calif., passed away of Covid-19 on September 16, 2021, while visiting family in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

He leaves his devoted wife of 58 years, Mary E. Brand; his daughter, Tracy M. Brand; son, Andrew M. Brand and his wife, Donna each of Coeur d'Alene, and granddaughters, Marissa Brand and Alexandra "Allie" Brand. He also leaves the joy of his life, a great-granddaughter, Remi Ryle; two grandsons, James Ruiz and Adam Ruiz of Santa Clarita, Calif.; two sisters, Joan Taylor of Cape Cod and Ruth Flynn (Paul) of Westfield, Mass.; as well as sister-in-law, Monica Freeman of Reno, Nev., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in 1986 by a son, Alexander "Rusty" Brand.

Born in Springfield, Mass., he was a resident of California for more than 60 years. He was a Parts Manager of several dealerships and was with Auto Trends of North Hollywood for 15+ years before relocating to Oakhurst, Calif., where he was a member of the Oakhurst Elks, a small business owner with his wife of Fluff & Fold Laundry and known as the sewing machine 'fix it' guy.

For 27 years Coeur d'Alene has been a summer residence for Sandy and his wife, Mary.

Anyone who knew Sandy probably experienced his jokester manner; his bigger-than-life personality, and his broad wealth of knowledge and willingness to computer search anything that ailed you. Golf was a favorite pastime for many years as was traveling the country by camper accompanied by feline pal, Tigger.

Sandy was a sensitive and kind person and would do anything for anyone. The family asks that folks Pay it Forward and do something kind for another in need.

Burial will be at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, Calif., at the convenience of the family.
