JUSTICE: Important reminder

| September 24, 2021 1:00 AM

To Kathleen Hodge:

Re: your letter to the editor dated Sept. 15 titled “RAPE: Cycle must be broken,” apparently you don’t believe in the American justice tenet that people are innocent until PROVEN guilty. You base your entire opinion on what you’ve read in The Press.

So why have trials, right? The mere allegation is sufficient for a conviction.

Then you assume that the “perpetrator’s” mother may have received the same treatment from someone in her household. Talk about a quantum leap.

In our American jurisprudence, we don’t convict people based on media reports, or one-sided allegations. But that’s precisely what you’ve done.
