COEUR d’ALENE — Lake City senior Hanah Stoddard had 18 kills and 11 digs to power the Timberwolves to a 27-25, 28-26, 25-21 nonleague win over the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups at Lake City High on Wednesday.

Nellie Reese had 24 assists, 13 digs and seven kills, Ella Hosfeld 15 assists and six kills and Allie Bowman 13 digs for Lake City (11-2).

“It was a balanced win tonight,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “It was good to see everyone contribute, focus and finish the game.”

Lake City had leads in the first two sets, then had to fight off a Gonzaga Prep rally.

“We were pulling away as we approached 20 (points) and let them back in,” Kleinberg said. “But the girls kept fighting, and I’m really pleased with how we finished those sets out.”

Bailey Benson had 11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks, Emma Sandberg three aces, Kate Palelek three aces and 17 assists for Gonzaga Prep.

Lake City visits Sandpoint on Tuesday.
