Matthew John Morrison

| September 22, 2021 1:00 AM

Matthew John Morrison passed away due to an apparent heart attack on Sept. 12, 2021, at his home in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Matt was born in Snoqualmie, Wash., on Sept. 17,1968, grew up in Coeur d'Alene and graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Boise State University. He will be forever remembered by family and friends as the funniest person in the room — regaling all with hysterical stories from his life experiences.

Before college, he enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves, completing basic training in San Diego at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot and later at Camp Pendleton. Semper Fi.

Matt put himself through college working in the hospitality industry. He worked as a Route Sales Representative for over 10 years with Frito-Lay, and later dabbled in the real estate field. Matt and Kim Swank were married in June of 2000 in Boise. Over the next few years, they became the proud parents of three boys, Maddox John, Zander Daniel and Keyan Matthew. After 14 years of marriage, Matt and Kim parted, and she and the boys moved to Pennsylvania to be near her family.

Matt and his former high school sweetheart, Debbie Arthur Buck, reconnected and were married in February of 2017. After three years in southern Idaho, they recently returned to Coeur d'Alene. He enjoyed family camping trips, kayaking with Debbie and spending time with their combined family. The world will be a much quieter place without one of the most hilarious men we have ever known and it will also miss a whole lot of heart without his spontaneous personality and love.

Matt is survived by his wife, Deborah Buck Morrison, sons Maddox, Zander and Keyan and their mother, Kim, in Export, Pa.; also survived by stepchildren Canaan, Camryn (Cami) and Christopher (Chris) Buck of Rathdrum and Coeur d'Alene; parents, Mother, Karen Huber, of Coeur d’Alene, Father, Gary and Step-mother, Renee Morrison of Newport, Wash.; siblings Marcy (Rick) Clutter of Post Falls, Becky (Mike) Schroeder of Boise, Keith (Katie) Huber of Georgia, Mandy (Brandon) Biddle of Texas and Mitchell Morrison of Spokane. He will also be missed by Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Great-nieces, Great-nephews, Cousins and Friends. He was preceded in death by Grandparents Orion and Frances Grunerud, Duane and Dorothy Morrison; Stepfather, John Huber, Jr.; Half-sister, Megan Morrison; Stepbrother, Mark Morrison and Great-Niece, Jovi Sloan Preston.

A virtual Celebration of Life is planned later due to current COVID restrictions and concerns. Information will be provided via social media at a later date.
