NIC ROUNDUP: Rayborn leads Cardinals past Big Bend

COEUR d’ALENE — Janae Rayborn, a sophomore from Lake City High, had 17 kills and 13 digs for North Idaho College in a 25-18, 25-11, 25-14 win over the Big Bend Vikings in its Northwest Athletic Conference opener at Christianson Gymnasium on Friday.
"Janae had a stellar game and led us each game,” NIC coach Kelsey Stanley said. “It was a good start to conference play.”
Abbey Neff, a freshman from Lakeland, had 22 assists and eight digs, sophomore Clair Hodge 13 digs and Maresa Maiava 12 digs and seven kills for NIC (5-3), which hosts Blue Mountain on Wednesday.
Big Bend is 0-7, 0-3.
• SOCCER
Men's and women's soccer games between visiting Treasure Valley and North Idaho College have been canceled in accordance with the Northwest Athletic Conference COVID-19 protocols, due to an outbreak within the Chukars program.
NIC will return to action on Wednesday, with the Cardinal women traveling to Yakima Valley at 2 p.m. and the men's team visiting Wenatchee Valley at 4:15 p.m.
NIC's next schedule home games are Sept. 29 against the Community Colleges of Spokane.
