COEUR d’ALENE — The Bears and Timberwolves played to a nonleague draw at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

“It was obvious from the opening whistle that Moscow’s game plan was to try and not get scored on and play to a 0-0 draw,” Lake City coach Alan Rich said. “To their credit, they executed it perfectly. They had 10 players behind the ball and at least eight were in the 18-yard box defending the entire game. We dominated the possession and virtually all of it was in Moscow’s half of the field, but we did not play well enough to break them down.”

Lake City (10-0-1) travels to Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.

First half — none. Second half — none.

Shots on goal — Mos 1, LC 21.

Saves — Mos, Wyatt Burton 15; LC, Tyler Allred 1.

On Thursday, he scored his first two goals of the season for the Trojans boys soccer team in a nonleague victory over the Hawks.

Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson moved McGowan up to striker late in the match in an attempt to get the senior a goal, and McGowan laid a pass off to Blake Christensen for the game’s final goal.

“Our girls played amazing,” Coeur d’Alene coach Andy Vredenburg said. “We controlled the entire game, but their keeper made some big saves and we couldn’t convert our chances. But I’m proud of our girls. They played well from start to finish and created a lot of chances. It just wasn’t our day.”

Coeur d’Alene (5-3-0, 4-2-0 IEL) plays at Central Valley on Saturday.

Naomi Kessler scored the game's only goal in the 58th minute on a rebound for Lewiston (4-4-0, 3-3-0).

We needed this match because we had to travel and play hard. Moscow makes you earn everything and we had to do a lot of things to get the result.”
