CDA Fondo to roll on Saturday

| September 17, 2021 1:00 AM

The annual Coeur d’Fondo is set for Saturday, with riders beginning and finishing their treks in front of The Coeur d’Alene Resort.

The event, which is a fun ride, not a race, attracts hundreds of riders and offers five distances from 14 miles up to nearly 120 miles. The longer distances circle Lake Coeur d’Alene, while shorter distances offer the options of starting in CDA, finishing in Harrison and taking a boat ride back, or taking the boat ride to Harrison first and cycling to Coeur d’Alene.

A Family Fondo goes to Higgins Point and back on the North Idaho Centennial Trial.

Riders can also choose a virtual Condo and pick their own course.

Riders receive T-shirts, medals, a pint glass, Oktoberfest post race meal, 32 ounces of beer (riders 21-and-over) at Octoberfest, fully stocked aid stations, tech support on course and chip timing.

Due to COVId-19 precautions, there will be a rolling start from 8-8:30 a.m. to allow for physical distancing.

While the forecast for Saturday is for basically lousy weather — rain and temperatures in the 50s — the ride will go on, organizers said.
