The Coeur d'Alene Regional Chamber of Commerce CEO Derrell Hartwick resigned abruptly Thursday, board members told The Press.

Linda Coppess, the chamber's vice president for member relations, took over immediately as interim president and CEO.

Hartwick became president and CEO in December 2019. While his tenure wasn't long after moving to Coeur d'Alene from Arkansas, he was credited with growing chamber membership.

"We'd like to thank Derrell for helping turn the organization into a regional chamber and appreciate his overall service," said board President Ann Thomas. "We're also grateful for getting us through COVID-19, which has been no small feat."

Thomas added that the chamber will be in good hands with Coppess while the board considers its next steps.
