| September 16, 2021 1:00 AM

Joyce Elaine McCoy, 91 years old, of Spokane Valley, Wash. went home to be with Jesus on Sept. 3, 2021. Joyce was born to Harry and Florence Wollin in Wilmington, Calif. She was the second oldest of their five children. Her family moved to Spokane, Wash., where she attended Spokane Lutheran School and graduated from Lewis and Clark High school. She met her future husband, Ed McCoy, at her sister’s wedding. Together they had five children and were married for 62 years until Ed went home to be with Jesus in 2011.

Joyce was very intelligent and a very gifted homemaker. She worked magic with her hands: cooking, sewing, needlepoint, baking, and gardening. It has been estimated that over the years she had given over 500 quilts to family, friends, Salvation Army's, Sally’s House and Vanessa Behan Crisis Center. Family life also included traveling, camping, and numerous airshows. Joyce truly loved the Lord Jesus and was highly involved with St John’s Lutheran Church throughout her entire life. She is well remembered as a sweet, positive lady with a servant’s heart.

Joyce is survived by her five children: Brian (Judy) McCoy, Mark(JoAnn) McCoy, Carol (Gordon) Cresse, Douglas (Charlotte) McCoy, Timothy McCoy, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, as well as her youngest brother, Jerry (Kathy) Wollin and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at St John’s Lutheran Church 5810 S.E. Meadowlane Road, Spokane, Wash.
